Hajime Rising Hooks: Unlock Hook and Use X

Last updated 2026-11-02Unofficial player article

Unlock Hook, then select X

  • Skill tree: Complete the Hook unlock when the tutorial asks for it.
  • Bag practice: Select hooks with X and use the punching hand inputs for the task.

The Hook unlock comes before its practice task

Hajime Rising introduces Hook through the skill tree. The tutorial asks the player to unlock it and then land hooks on the bag. If you are stuck at that stage, complete the named unlock first; X is the selection input, rather than a substitute for acquiring the move.

Hajime Rising boxing practiceThe tutorial explicitly opens the skill tree for Hook and then returns to the bag to practise it.

With Hook available, press X and use left or right click for the hand you intend. Keep the tutorial's requested move in mind. Changing back to Z while trying to finish a hook task gives you a different selected punch, even though the mouse inputs still look familiar.

Learn the requirement behind the next branch

The skill tree also includes an observed progression from Hooks through Alternative Hooks toward Brawler. Those names identify a progression path; they do not establish that every node is available as soon as you unlock the first Hook. Another requirement can still matter before the next purchase or unlock.

The skill-tree guide explains that training supplies skill points and that a branch can include stat prerequisites as well as previous moves. Use it when the problem has moved from executing a hook to acquiring the next node.

For practice, give yourself a narrower aim than mastering the whole branch. Select Hook reliably, throw it with the intended hand and finish the requested bag action. Add stance changes or other skills after that sequence is clear. Once the bag task is complete, the next useful choice is practising the other hand or following the next node in the branch.
